Face Masks for Men: A Simple Weekly Routine
Share
More men are building simple skincare routines, and a face mask is an easy weekly add-on. Men's skin often produces more oil, and daily commutes, sweat, helmets and shaving all add up. A mask once or twice a week can leave skin feeling fresh and clean. Here is how to start.
Why try a face mask?
- Helps with excess oil, especially on the forehead and nose.
- Leaves skin feeling clean after a dusty, sweaty week.
- Takes 15 minutes and fits into a weekend.
A clay mask
Clay masks are a good first mask for men, especially with oily or combination skin. The Revive Face Mask combines multani mitti and kaolin, which absorb excess oil and help unclog pores, with rose flower extract, aloe vera, haldi and chandan. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and use it 2 to 3 times a week.
How to use it
- Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.
- Apply an even layer on the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, avoiding the eyes and lips.
- Wait 10 to 15 minutes.
- Rinse with lukewarm water before it dries and cracks.
- Moisturise.
Nose strips
If gunk on your nose bothers you, nose strips are quick and simple. The Charcoal Detox Nose Strips come in a pack of 12 and combine activated charcoal with tea tree oil, witch hazel and aloe vera. Wet your nose, apply the strip, leave 10 to 15 minutes and peel it off slowly. Use 1 to 2 times a week, with 3 days between uses.
Beards and stubble
- Keep clay out of a full beard. Apply only to the skin above it.
- With stubble, rinse well so no mask is left in the hair.
- Moisturise the skin under your beard as part of your daily routine.
Shaving and masks
- Do not use a mask right after shaving. Skin can feel sensitive.
- Leave a day between shaving and masking if your skin reacts easily.
- Never use a mask on cuts or razor irritation.
A simple weekly plan
| Day | Step |
|---|---|
| Daily | Cleanse, moisturise, sunscreen |
| Wednesday | Nose strip |
| Saturday | Clay mask |
Common mistakes
- Using a mask every day.
- Scrubbing hard afterwards.
- Skipping moisturiser because skin feels oily.
- Using a nose strip and clay mask on the nose the same day.
