How to Use Nose Strips for Blackheads (Without Irritating Your Skin)
Share
Nose strips are a quick, satisfying way to lift blackheads and excess oil from the nose. Used the right way, they leave skin feeling fresh and clean. Used the wrong way, they can leave it red and irritated. Here is how to get it right.
What charcoal nose strips do
Pore strips stick to the surface of the skin and, as they dry, grip the gunk at the top of open pores. Our Charcoal Detox Nose Strips are infused with activated charcoal, plus tea tree oil and witch hazel. They are vegan and cruelty-free, and come in a pack of 12.
Step by step
- Cleanse. Wash your face so there is no makeup or cream on your nose. Strips will not stick to oily or creamy skin.
- Open pores with warmth. Use the strip after a warm shower, or hold a warm, damp towel on your nose for a minute.
- Wet your nose. The strip needs moist skin to stick.
- Apply the strip smooth side down and press firmly so it touches every curve of your nose.
- Wait 10 to 15 minutes until the strip feels stiff.
- Peel slowly, starting at the edges and pulling towards the centre. Never rip it off quickly.
- Rinse any residue with cool water.
Aftercare
- Apply a light, non-greasy moisturiser.
- Avoid strong actives or scrubs on your nose for the rest of the day.
- Do not squeeze what is left. That is where redness and marks come from.
How often to use them
Once or twice a week is plenty. Using strips every day can dry out and irritate the skin on your nose.
Why blackheads come back
Blackheads are pores filled with oil and dead skin that darken when they meet air. A strip clears the top of the pore, but your skin keeps making oil, so blackheads return over time. That is normal, and it is why strips work best as a regular weekly step alongside good daily cleansing, rather than a one-time fix.
Common mistakes
- Applying the strip to dry skin, so it barely sticks.
- Pulling it off before it has fully dried.
- Using it on the same day as a scrub or peel.
- Squeezing pores afterwards.
Who should skip them
Skip pore strips on sunburnt, broken or very sensitive skin, or if you have active, inflamed breakouts on your nose.
Habits that keep pores clearer
- Cleanse every night, especially after wearing sunscreen or makeup.
- Use a clay or detox mask once a week. Our Revive Face Mask is made for that step.
- Keep hands off your face and change pillowcases often.
- Use a lightweight moisturiser instead of skipping moisturiser altogether.
