How to Track Your Skin Progress with Photos

Skin changes slowly. You look in the mirror every day, so it is easy to miss real progress and give up on a routine that is working. Progress photos fix that. Here is how to take photos you can actually compare.

Why photos beat the mirror

Your memory of how your skin looked a month ago is not reliable, and mirror lighting changes through the day. A consistent photo, taken the same way each time, lets you compare honestly. It also helps you notice which habits or products make a difference.

The 7 rules for comparable photos

1. Same light

Natural daylight is best. Stand facing a window, not with the window behind you. Avoid direct harsh sun and yellow indoor bulbs.

2. Same time of day

Morning, after washing your face, works well. Skin looks different after a workout, a hot shower or a long day.

3. Bare face

No makeup, no tinted sunscreen and no shiny moisturiser. Wait a few minutes after washing so redness settles.

4. Same spot and distance

Pick one place in your home and use it every time. Hold the phone at arm's length, or prop it up at eye level.

5. Three angles

Take a front photo, then turn your head to show your left side, then your right side. Many concerns show more clearly from the side.

6. No filters

Turn off beauty mode, portrait mode and filters. Use the rear camera if you can; it is usually sharper.

7. Hair back, neutral face

Tie your hair back, relax your face and look straight at the camera.

How often to take them

  • Day 1 of a new routine.
  • Every 7 days after that, on the same weekday.
  • Day 28 for your main comparison.

Daily photos are usually too close together to show much and can make you anxious. Weekly is enough.

What to look for

  • Overall look: does the skin look brighter or more rested?
  • Texture: smoother, or more uneven?
  • Breakouts: fewer, more, or about the same?
  • Under-eyes: less puffy or tired-looking?
  • Oil and shine: more balanced?

Write a short note next to each photo: sleep that week, anything new you started, and how your skin felt.

Keep your photos private

Store progress photos in a private album or folder. You do not need to share them with anyone to get value from them.

How Glow Scan uses photos

The Theraglam Glow Scan uses the same three angles: front, left side and right side, in good daylight with no makeup. From those photos and a short quiz, it gives you a Glow Score from 0 to 100 as a starting point, plus a skincare routine, face massage and face yoga guides, a diet and water plan, an exercise plan and a 28-day tracker. Take your own photos again on day 28 to compare.

Quick questions

What if the weather is cloudy? Cloudy daylight is fine; it is soft and even. Just keep using the same spot.

Should I use a selfie stick or tripod? Anything that keeps the distance the same helps.
