Nose Strips for Men: A Simple Way to Deal With Blackheads

Many men notice blackheads on and around the nose, especially with oily skin, sweat and pollution. Squeezing them is tempting but can leave the skin red and sore. Nose strips are a quick, easy option that fits into a simple grooming routine.

What nose strips do

A nose strip sticks to the skin on your nose. When you peel it off, it lifts away some of the gunk sitting on the surface of pores. Results vary from person to person, and strips are best used as an occasional extra, not a daily fix.

Our nose strips

The Charcoal Detox Nose Strips come in a pack of 12. They contain activated charcoal, tea tree oil, witch hazel and aloe vera, and are vegan and cruelty-free.

How to use them

  1. Wash your face to remove oil and dirt.
  2. Wet your nose. The strip needs moisture to stick.
  3. Apply the strip and press it down firmly so it follows the shape of your nose.
  4. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes until it dries.
  5. Peel it off slowly, from the edges towards the centre.
  6. Rinse your nose and apply a light moisturiser.

How often

Use 1 to 2 times a week, with at least 3 days between uses. More often can leave skin irritated.

Best timing for men

  • After a shower, when skin is clean.
  • Not right after shaving the upper lip area, when skin may be sensitive.
  • Evenings or weekends, when you have 15 minutes to spare.

Habits that help keep pores clear

  • Wash your face morning and night with a gentle face wash.
  • Wash after the gym or a sweaty ride. See skincare for gym goers.
  • Use a light moisturiser, even if your skin is oily.
  • Apply sunscreen in the day.
  • Keep hands off your face and do not squeeze.
  • Change pillowcases regularly.

Do not

  • Use strips on broken, sunburned or irritated skin.
  • Pull them off fast or at an angle that tugs the skin.
  • Use them every day.
  • Use them on other parts of the face unless the pack says so.
