How to Take Good Photos for Your Glow Scan: Light, Angles and Simple Tips
Share
Your Theraglam Glow Scan starts with three photos of your face and a short quiz. The report you get back, with your Glow Score, skin routine, diet and water plan, exercises and face massage moves, is built from what you share. So it is worth spending two minutes on clear, honest photos. You do not need a good camera or any editing skills. You just need decent light and a few simple habits.
Why photo quality matters
A blurry, dark or filtered photo hides the details of your skin. A clear photo taken in plain light shows your face as it really looks on a normal day. That gives you a more useful starting point, and it also gives you a fair "before" picture to compare against later. See how to track skin progress with photos.
Light: the most important part
- Face a window during the day. Soft daylight from the front is the easiest light for a clear selfie.
- Avoid direct harsh sun. Strong sunlight creates sharp shadows and makes you squint.
- Do not stand with a window behind you. Your face will look dark against the bright background.
- Skip coloured bulbs. Yellow or blue room light changes how your skin tone looks.
- Turn off the flash if you can, since it flattens the face and adds shine.
Camera and phone settings
- Wipe the lens with a soft cloth. Phone lenses pick up fingerprints and oil all day.
- Turn off beauty mode and filters. Many phone cameras smooth skin automatically. Check your camera settings and switch this off.
- Do not edit the photo afterwards. No brightening, smoothing or cropping tools.
- Hold the phone at eye level and about an arm's length away, so your face is not distorted.
- Tap your face on the screen to focus before you take the photo.
Getting your face ready
- Wash your face with your usual cleanser and pat it dry a few minutes before.
- Go bare-faced if you can. Foundation, concealer and compact hide the very things the scan looks at. See skincare for daily makeup wearers.
- Tie your hair back so your forehead, cheeks and jawline are visible.
- Remove glasses for the photos.
- Keep a relaxed, neutral face. A big smile or raised eyebrows changes how lines and cheeks look.
A simple photo checklist
| Check | Why |
|---|---|
| Daylight from the front | Even light, no heavy shadows |
| Clean lens | Sharp, not hazy |
| No filter or beauty mode | Shows your real skin |
| Bare, clean face | Nothing hidden under makeup |
| Hair tied back, no glasses | Whole face visible |
| Neutral expression | Fair, repeatable photo |
Best time to take your photos
Morning or early afternoon on a normal day usually works well, when there is plenty of daylight. Try not to take them straight after a workout, a hot shower or a face mask, since your skin may look flushed or temporarily different. See hot showers and skin. A regular day gives you the most honest picture of your everyday skin.
Answer the quiz honestly too
The quiz matters as much as the photos. Your Glow Scan report covers skin, grooming, diet and fitness, so share your real habits around sleep, water, food and routine, not the ones you wish you had. Honest answers give you guidance that fits your life. See how Theraglam Glow Scan works.
Take the same photos again later
Save your photos. After a few weeks of following your plan, take new ones in the same spot, at the same time of day and with the same settings. Comparing like with like is the fairest way to see how your habits are going. See how to improve your Glow Score and what is Glow Score.
