Overnight Mask for Oily Skin: How to Use One Without the Grease
Share
Overnight masks are often described as rich treatments for dry skin, so people with oily skin tend to skip them. But oily skin can still feel tight or dehydrated, especially after cleansing, in AC rooms or in winter. Used lightly, an overnight mask can fit into an oily skin routine without leaving you greasy.
Oily does not mean hydrated
Oil and water are not the same thing. Oily skin can still lack water, and some people find their skin feels more comfortable with a light hydrating layer. Read dry vs dehydrated skin.
Our overnight mask
The HydraRenew Collagen Overnight Mask has hyaluronic acid, hydrolyzed collagen, multi-peptides and aloe vera. You apply it at night on the face and neck and rinse it off in the morning, and it leaves no residue on your pillow. See hyaluronic acid for skin and peptides in skincare.
How to use it on oily skin
- Cleanse gently to remove oil, sunscreen and sweat.
- Pat dry.
- Use a thin layer. A small amount spread evenly is enough.
- Apply less on the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) if it gets oily, and a little more on cheeks and neck.
- Let it settle for a few minutes before lying down.
- Rinse in the morning with lukewarm water, then follow with a light moisturiser and sunscreen.
How often?
Many people with oily skin start with two or three nights a week and adjust based on how their skin feels in the morning. If your skin feels comfortable, not greasy, you can use it more often.
Pair it with a clay mask
The Revive Face Mask has multani mitti and kaolin clay, two clays often used for oily skin, along with rose, aloe, kapoor kachri, haldi, chandan and nagarmotha. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, 2 to 3 times a week. Rinse, pat dry, then apply the overnight mask. Read clay mask vs overnight mask and what to apply after a face mask.
